The Climactic Battle Over Health Care

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid is pushing for passage of the Senate version of Obamacare and this might be the last chance to stop it.

In order to pass this mess he needs 60 votes to invoke cloture, or stop debate.  If all the Republicans stay united he will need every Democrat and both Independents to vote with him to win.  The loss of one Democrat or independent Sen. Joe Lieberman will kill the bill and force them to start over.  That is what absolutely must happen.

As a practical matter, Republican Senators Olympia Snow and Susan Collins could very easily turn at the end and vote with Democrats so it would be safer to get three or four Democrat or Independent votes to insure this beast dies.  Conservatives are tired.  They have been to TEA parties, townhalls, and marches on Washington.  The have called, emailed, and written to their Senators and Representatives and at times it seems they are just not listening.  But now is not the time to stop, now is the time to step up our efforts because this could be the last chance.

Don’t believe what you hear about this bill needing to go to a conference and then both houses needing to vote on it again.  If this bill passes, it can and probably will be sent to the House of Representatives.  Once there, I believe Obama and Pelosi will twist all arms to accept the Senate language as is.  A simple majority will pass it and it will go to the President for signature.  Done deal.  As I write this Pelosi is making some favorable noises about this mess and I don’t believe the liberals will turn against it.  They have a lot of history of taking half a loaf now with the knowledge that once this begins they will tweak it until they get every ounce of control they so fervently desire.

If you haven’t contacted your Representative or Senators, click on the Take Further Action button at the bottom of the Free Our Health Care Now site and they will make it easy for you to send communication to them.

Go to Hugh Hewitt’s site and see what else you can do.  Now is the time for action.  If we don’t stop it now, before Christmas, I don’t believe this take over of our health care system will be stopped.
